Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. The place behind the image.

Back in 1986 Stephen went to visit his grandfather in Stratford-upon-Avon, to introduce his 6 month old son, Simon. He also grabbed his trusty camera and took in some photos of the local sites. Anne Hathaway’s Cottage was one of them. Later that year it became the subject for a 3 plate etching. It was quite an achievement because, in true Whittle brilliance, he developed an image where all the colors were printed from the plates on the traditional etching press. There was no extra coloring after!
